What is Explorer Scouts
Phoenix Explorer Scouts are part of Taunton Deane District Explorer Scouts
Somerset England UK
Phoenix ESU started on Wednesday 6th June 2007
Phoenix ESU will offer quality scouting to anyone aged 14-18 who would like to join us. We belong to Taunton District which now has has four Explorer Units. The benefits of this is that you can join in with activities that all the Units are offering.
We will be offering activities that you ask for and you will be encouraged to be involved in the planning and running of these activities with the help of the Explorer Scout Leaders.
Unlike other sections in the Scout Movement, Explorer Scouts is designed to be flexible
- Flexibility for You to join in where you want
- Flexibility for You to join in when you want
- Flexibility for You to join in with what you want

Explorer Scoutsmake up the fourth Section of the Scouting family. There are many types of Explorer Scout Units, some may be linked to your local Scout Unit, and others may be based around different activities.
Not all Units meet each week, because you will often be out and about at weekends or in the holidays doing activities. There will be times when you will be busy doing other things such as exams, and being an Explorer Scout will have to fit around these.
As an Explorer Scout, you will get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts in your District, not just your Unit. By doing this, you will get the chance to do many more activities, not just the ones your Unit organises. You will also be able to complete your Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold level.
We meet on
Wednesday evenings 7-9pm our meeting hall will be Six Acres Community Hall,

We will meet at other venues as activities are planned.
